The WORST of Classic Video games. Maintained on my Web page: http://www.steverd.com These are ALL from post in the rec.games.video.classic Sorry, these are not my personal choice, although most of them would be. Please E-mail me your choices and COMMENTS, about the game, so I can add to the list. Please include ANY game system you want ------------------------------------------------------- Atari 2600 3D Tic-Tac-Toe - why would anyone bother? Basic Programming-you had a total of 63 BYTES total for your program and the stack. BUGS ..the bugs were painfully slow, which often meant gameplay was nothing more than point to one bug, click, next one, click, next one, click, then start all over. Congo Bongo - great find, misbegotten attempt Cosmic Corridor. Ugh. This makes Pac-Man feel like Solaris. Desert Falcon - Crap Dodge 'Em (Atari) No theme, let alone control! Donkey Kong - More crap. This could have been a good port, too. I've heard the idea bandied about that Coleco deliberately made inferior versions of their licensed games for other platforms. Sure LOOKS that way here. Donkey Kong Jr. - terrible control Dragster - Incredibly Boring Espial - Mindlessly dull and tedious, apart from being impossible, it looks rather nasty too. I won't even mention the sound. Poor man's Xevious, with more sprite flicker than I thought possible. E.T - Borring as Hell, where the game was merely an afterthought. Spielberg wants your money. It's everything that Raiders of the Lost Ark was trying (not totally successfully) to avoid. Fire Fighter (Imagic) ... too easy, No GamePlay Firefly (Mythicon) -- Point? Difficulty? Sense of competion? Graphics? Correlation why the thing cost $10 at one time? (All Mythicon carts are similar.) Football - the Orginal one by Atari Ghost Manor. Quite unimpressive, by all accounts. Gran Prix (Activision) ... boring Haunted House - It is useless, boring, and annoying. Home Run Journey Escape (Data Age) ... l*a*m*e - probably a big hit with 14 year old girls who thought Steve Perry was really bitchin'. The gameplay, as was the case with most licenseware, was a complete afterthought. Laser Blast - fly, shoot shoot shoot, repeat. Really Drags On Mr Do! - Another of the Worst Arcade Ports Off The Wall - WHY isn't this a paddle game? The joystick action makes gameply nearly impossible. OINK! -It sounds like someone has shoved a screwdriver into the speaker. Plus it's boring. Pac Man ... they could do better, Total Rush job 'dang dang dang-dang-dang dang dang' Raiders of the Lost Ark - Impossible for a kid Sneak 'n' Peek (US Games) ... for those with truly no friends another 'dozerware hit. I can't IMAGINE anyone liking this even a little bit! What marketing genius dreamed this up? I can just imagine the sequel: Kick The Can! Sorcerer - another Mythicon title, is the all-time worst game. It was so boring and repetitive! :( Space Attack (M-Network) ... boring Space Jockey, by U.S. games. A poorman's Defender? Could they have made it ANY easier? Space Cavern. It's ugly, boring, repetitive, and the sound that it makes when your character perishes is enough to make you want to stomp on it and stomp on it and stomp on it... SPACE WAR (Atari) -- Not for people who only own one joystick, do not have friends/sibling, are over age 8, or all of these things. Makes Combat look more fun. Star Fox (Mysticon) ... 'nuff said Star Ship - All time worst game? Stellar Track - No graphics, just text Strawberry Shortcake SwordQuest Games Towering Inferno - annoying. It's made by the same people who bring you Quaker Oats, what do you expect? Video Chess - oh please Video Tic-Tac-Toe - why would anyone bother? Warplock, by Data Age, is one of the worst games on the 2600, if not the worst game of all time. Is this even really a game? Yars Revenge - I think this was the worst Atari 2600 game ever. Zaxxon - the Worst port for the 2600 The Mythicon cartridges hold the honor of being the worst 2600 game ever. Anything by Froggo games -------------------------------------------------------- Atari 7800 Dark Chambers. Very, very repetitive. Fight Night - lousy animation, too easy, jerky control. Froggo's waterski -apart from being impossible, it looks rather nasty too. I won't even mention the sound. Lousy Controls Karateka - horrible control, missing elements, bad graphics. Winter Games, for having only four events when even the 2600 version managed eight. --------------------------------------------------------- INTELLIVISION: Kool-Aid Man. At least it has novelty value. Tron Maze-A-Tron - You can't even score points during the longest section of the game... Vectron. Way too difficult, and the controls make it worse. ------------------------------------------------------- COMPANIES Data Age-- their first five carts (Airlock, Warplock, Encounter at L-5, Sssnake, and Bugs) were all lame, lame, lame! By the time they got it together with Frankenstein's Monster, it was game over for them. Froggo-- re-released re-named crap. What were they thinking? Mythicon-- their only three carts (Star Fox, Sorcerer, Fire Fly) were all practically clones of each other...and they all SUCKED! ZiMAG-- Tanks But No Tanks is the most flickery game EVER. Cosmic Corridor, Dishaster, and I Want My Mommy are all horrendously BORING... ---------------------------------------------------------
